A wonderful human being left for her heavenly abode few days back. Madhavi Kutty or Kamala Das or Kamala Suraiya, whichever name you are familiar with, will now write no more stories or poems. She was like a mother to many. Kamala Das was one writer whom, as an amateur, I always looked up to. In my dreams, I saw myself meeting her and giving the first book I ever write to her. I never met her. Now I will never meet her as she is no more. Rather, her body is no more. She lives through her books.

Environmental experts of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agriculture Sciences and Technology-Kashmir (SKUAST-K) have revealed that the cause of methane contents present in polythene carry-bags in abundance, had acted as toxic due to which not only bone, blood, stomach and head ailments were detected but overall it was found that its toxic effect had also adversely affected the entire nervous system of the human body.

Browsing through the day's newspaper one cannot help but notice full-page advertisements inserted by leading institutes which coach IIT aspirants. The advertisers (the said institutes) vied with each other to insert larger and larger advertisements and brag about the number of successful candidates they had coached. Unlike our days, when there was only one merit list, we now have category-wise merit lists. We now have merit lists at the national level, state level and city level. Before long, merit lists may be released street-wise and surname-wise.
