Union govt approves new Indian rupee symbol Bookmark and Share

After a long period of time, the Union government of India approved the new Indian rupee symbol which is a mix of Devanagri ‘Ra' and Roman symbol ‘R'. India rupee will be the fifth currency in the world to have a distinct identity. With its own distinct identity or symbol Indian rupee will join the elite club of US dollar, British pound-sterling, Euro and Japanese yen.

After a public outcry over the shabby manner in which the Indian banks treat the credit card holders, the Reserve Bank of India has come up with a fresh warning asking banks to strictly follow the RBI guidelines on credit card operations in letter and spirit. RBI has warned that it could be constrained to initiate penal action if the rules and regulations as per the Master Circular on Credit Card Operations are violated.
