Read more...Rohit Kochar was presented the Rajiv Gandhi Award for young entrepreneur at the awards' 12th ceremony held on Wednesday, August 19. The Rajiv Gandhi Award were instituted in 1996 and has grown to include 12 categories that include industry, sports and entertainment. The award ceremony was attended by a number of politicians and representatives from the government including Jyotiraditya Scindia, Mohammed Azharuddin, Milind Deora and Kamal Nath.

The Media and Communcations Services(MCCS) group has partnered with Youtube to offer Star Newscontent on their website. With this partnership,  Star News now has a branded channel on Youtube. Within the first few weeks of the launch, Star News has already become the number one partner channel clocking more than a million views. MCCS plans to shortly launch their other TV channels on this platform.

 
AR Rahman to deliver peace concert in Australia Bookmark and Share

Oscar- winning musician A R Rahman (who composed the sound track for Slumdog Millionaire will deliver a free concert in Sydney (Australia) to make a statement of peace in view of the recent racial attacks on Indian students in Australia. He reportedly said that this concert, to be held at Parramatta Park on January 16, was an attempt to 'reunite culturally and spiritually' in view of the recent bad vibes generated in the recent spate of violence. He hopes that it will create a 'bridge of understanding and love' and break down 'cultural misunderstanding'. Premier Nathan Rees of New South Wales has congratulated Rahman for this offer.

Read more...Today, August 13, is the death anniversary of the iconic pop singer Nazia Hassan who had endeared herself to millions of the music lovers all over the world.Nazia Hassan was one of the most influential and popular female pop singers of the 80s and 90s in both India and Pakistan. Nazia first came into the limelight with PTV's programme ‘Sung Sung', a programme which also featured her brother Zhoaib. Nazia Hassan died on August 13, 2000, in London, after a prolonged battle with lung cancer at the age of 35.
