The decision of hiking salary and allowances of Parliament members (MP) was deferred by the Union Cabinet on Monday although the issue was discussed in detail. The members of the Cabinet felt that an increase in the emoluments of the MP's amidst unchecked inflation and rising cases of corruption in the upcoming Commonwealth Games would portray a negative image of the government.
