Politics is a game of opportunities. The result of 15th Loksabha Election has proven it again. After the surprising results of the election many regional parties have changed their colours in the name of secularism and supported the Congress led United Progressive Alliance (UPA). It has been observed that the regional parties especially in Northern India have very drastically lost their political ground extremely. That's why the leader of these parties are facing the challenge of identity crisis in the national politics. They are worried of their national stature which may be safe only in the hand of the Congress. Only Congress can give them the recognition.

The Supreme Court during the inconclusive hearing of a 17 year old divorce litigation between a serving Lieutenant Colonel and his wife gave an exclusive verdict replicating the similar views as mentioned in the ancient Hindu religious text where women occupy a very important position and regarded divine. The decision of the Court reminded of a saying mentioned in Hindu scripture in Sanskrit, "यत्र नार्यस्तु पूज्यंते रमंते तत्र देवताः।यत्र तास्तु न पूज्यंते तत्र सर्वाफलक्रिया" (Where women are worshipped, goddesses dwell. The Congress party's 201-seat tally is the best ever by any party since 1991, when it won 197 seats. The BJP's tally of 121 is the worst since 1991. The tally of the Left and its allies, 23, is the worst ever. Congress has staged a comeback in India's largest state, U.P, with nearly 22 seats (counting is still on there), after 25 years. And this election saw the final nail in the coffin of the regional and caste-based parties. The middle class is relieved that the regional parties' ambition of becoming the kingmaker and in course of time, forming an instable government has been thwarted. The people of India clearly ignored communalism, caste-ism, and jingoism and voted for stability.

With the advent of TV, people like me have hardly visited any cinema hall for watching a movie. In movies, we found stories, events, etc, which always were discounted as a mere imagination of film makers out to ensure commercial success of films. What the movies depicted was never accepted by us if it was inconsistent with our way of life, ideology or our value system. However, TV, especially the programmes based on crime reporting, have shattered all our ideologies and convictions and landed us in a world of strange and hard-to-believe facts about human behavior. Truth it is, they say; truth is stranger than fiction.
