Mahendra Singh Dhoni led Team India returned home after winning its fifth consecutive series abroad. The Indian team won the series against West Indies 2-1 after the last match between the two sides was washed out due to rains. Indian squad landed in Mumbai today in wee hours after taking a connecting flight from London. Most of the players looked jaded after a long flight and managed to avoid the media.
Incidentally, it was Team captain Dhoni's birth day on Tuesday, which was celebrated with much fanfare across the country.
India defeated the Carribeans in the first and third one-day matches in the rain affected series, which also saw some good performances by West Indies fast bowlers and batsmen.
The Indian team is now scheduled to visit Sri Lanka in September for a three-nation championship. Before that the team will get the privilege of a two months rest before the cricket season commences once again in September.
It is pertinent to mention that a lot of questions have been raised over the amount of cricket being played by Indians. Poor performance in the T20 world cup held in England had forced the former players and even the coach of Indian team to call for giving adequate rest to the squad. Merinews |
