Gurgaon resident loses battle against swine flu Bookmark and Share

Two swine flu deaths were reported in national capital Delhi on Thursday (August 20), after a 31-year old Gurgaon man and a woman from Delhi succumbed to the viral infection.

Samrat Pandaya, a Gurgaon resident died on Thursday, at the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in New Delhi. Doctors said Pandaya was kept on ventilator but he developed complications and died after his heart and lungs failed. 

His father, however, complained that Samrat had died due to negligence of doctors, which was refuted by the hospital authorities.  

Another person, who lost her life due to H1N1 infection in Delhi was identified as Renu Gupta, who died on Wednesday night. She had recently returned from Singapore and developed like symptoms, which were later confirmed positive. 

Meanwhile, the H1N1 virus continues to spread around the country with 216 people testing positive for the flu on Wednesday. Mumbai reported 48 positive cases, Pune (36), Chennai (30) and Delhi (25) respectively.


Maharashtra also tops the Swine Flu death toll at 19, seven people have died in Karnataka, two in Chhattisgarh, three in Gujarat, two in Delhi and one each in Tamilnadu and Kerala.
