Japan Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama has reached India on Sunday. He would talk here with his counterpart Manmohan Singh aimed at strengthening security and economic cooperations

Hatoyama would be meeting Rajendra Pachauri, head of a Nobel Winning panel of climate scientists and will discuss how to generate the momentum of tackling global warming after the Copenhagen climate accord, which failed to reach targets.

Ahead of his departure, Hatoyama said that he wanted to deepen discussions on sissues like disarmament, nuclear (non proliferation), climate economy and economy.

Fast growing India has been quite attractive to Japanese Business as Tokyo relies on exports for economic recovery amid subdued domestic demand.

Hatoyama and Singh would be meeting for the second time after talks in October on the sidelines of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in Thailand.

In October, Singh said that India wanted to be benefited from the nuclear power as a clean source of energy. He hoped that Japan would share its technological know how on this front.

Hatoyama had replied that Japan was the only nation which had suffered an atomic attack and would study the possibilities of cooperation.

India, like China, on the climate talks has refused to commit to emission cuts in the new treaty until the developed nations like United Stated present sufficient targets of their own.

The Copenhagen pact, put together with some of the major developed countries earlier this month, set a commitment to limit the global warming to two degrees Celsius (3.6 Fahrenheit). But they did not come out with the important stepping tones, global emissions targets for 2020 or 2050 for getting there.
