Opportunist BJP politics: Gadkari also on the same line Bookmark and Share

IT is now clear that nothing has changed in Bharatiya Janata Party's lure for opportunist politics after big talks by its new president Nitin Gadkari when the party embraced tainted Shibu Soren, dejected by Congress, as Jharkhand Chief Minister just for having lucrative chairs of power in the money-minting state rich in mines!

It is not new for BJP to crown a person as Chief Minister against whom it once stalled costly parliamentary proceedings in the year 2006, only because Shibu Soren was then part of a Congress-led United Progressive Alliance ministry. It is simply a repeat of infamous Sukhram affair when the BJP crowned him as Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh after it had stalled parliament because Sukhram as Union Cabinet Minister was found involved in big cash-scam.

BJP's eagerness to grab power in Jhakhand will prove costly for the party especially at a time when Congress despite being the largest single party rejected Shibu Soren's demand for post of Chief Minister. It is clear that opportunist and un-ideological combination will be short-lived. Investigating agencies should be directed to have a close vigil at state-affairs to avoid repeat of Madhu Koda like episode.
