Although the story seems to be a mediocre one, it's the treatment that wins it all for the director, Rajkumar Hirani. Having the privilege of watching the first show on the first day in a city like Pune, which houses many youngsters of India in the form of students, the audience response was one of the things worth noting.

There was a mixture of extreme emotions, where no one realized when their laughter merged in sobs and then again into amusement.

Sharman Joshi did a tremendous job as Raju, and Madhavan as Farhan was super cool.

Aamir's character called, Ranchoddas Shaymaldas Chajaad, completely lived up to it giving importance to all the minutest details as always. Kareena is again worth mentioning, as although her role is short, her performance was perfect. Boman Irani in another similar character, which even though has been repeated in so many of his films, has bettered his own performance each time.

Worthy of all praises, however, there are some glitches here and there during the end. It seemed as if all the teachings of Aamir Khan's character during the movie found all its practical experience in the climax where he impressed the Dean as well. However, the interval was a little indigestible when the audience finds Aamir when found, turning into Javed Jaffrey. The common reaction of all was, "this better have a good explanation".

The post interval session however, went on smoothly and after the explanation of the mystery, people again started the search for Aamir Khan with intense curiosity, who had gone missing in the story after he had completed his graduation and no one knew where he was. The story itself started with the search of "Rancho", the pet name given to Aamir's character.
